Dharwad: Polling for 14 constituencies from North and Central Karnataka in Phase 3 of the Lok Sabha elections began at a brisk pace. Voters are standing in queues at many polling stations to cast their votes.
Kalaburagi, Koppal, Ballari, Chikkodi, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Raichur, Bidar, Haveri, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Davangere, and Shivamogga were the constituencies in focus. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP swept all these 14 seats, defeating Congress and JD(S), which were in alliance and ruling the State then.
As of 9 am, Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a 9.38% voter turnout, Bagalkot 8.59%, Belagavi 9.48%, Ballari 10.37%, Bidar 8.90%, Vijayapura 9.26%, Chikkodi 10.81%, Davanagere 9.11%, Kalaburgi 8.71%, Haveri 8.62%, Koppal 8.79%, Raichur 8.27%, Shivamogga 11.39%, and Uttara Kannada 11.07%.
Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu and KHDC MD Mona Rawat exercised their rights at a polling booth established at KCD College in Dharwad. Former CM and Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha BJP candidate Basavaraj Bommai cast his vote at a polling station established at a government school in Shiggaon.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi cast his vote at a polling station established at Chinmayi Vidyalaya along with his family members.
