Dharwad: The state government is implementing revised textbooks in haste, without bringing it to the notice of academicians and public, alleged MLC S V Sankanoor.

For the revision of the primary and high school textbooks, the State Government had formed a committee headed by noted writer Baragur Ramchandrappa. The committee has given its recommendations to the government and without discussing this with the academicians, the State is implementing it without studying pros and cons, the MLC said.

In a press release, Sankanoor said the MLCs, teachers and educationists had recently met the DSERT officials in Bengaluru and demanded the authorities to disclose the recommendations of the committee.

The government has already sent the revised textbooks for printing and would be distributing them from the next academic year which is unscientific said Sankanoor while asking the government to invite suggestions from the public before printing the revised syllabus.

The government has invited tender for printing of revised textbooks and this process would begin from January 15. Revision of textbooks is a daunting task and should not be implemented in haste, he opined.
