Belagavi: Buddhist Society of India President and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s greatgrandson Dr. Rajaratna Ambedkar said that the Dalits need to be aware of the fact that the Manuvadis are trying to amend the Constitution and take away reservations in the country at present and also take cautious steps with regard to the same.
He was speaking at a function organised by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Janajagruti Vedike to mark 205th anniversary of Bhima-Koregaon victory celebrations and Savitribai Phule Jayanti at Sankeshwar here. “At present, in the country, there have been attempts to change the Constitution given by Dr. Ambedkar. We need to remember today the hardwork put by Dr. Ambedkar for the betterment of Dalits and thus move forward. Had it not been for Dr. Ambedkar, we do not know where we would be, he added.
“We can never forget the inspiration given to Ambedkar by Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Phule and Shivaji Maharaj. Also, no one can forget the contribution of Savitribai Phule to education,” he stressed.
