Winners from Bengaluru and Mysuru in Google contest

New Delhi: Three students from Bengaluru and Mysuru are among the nine schoolchildren who emerged winners of Google’s ‘Code to Learn’ competition on Wednesday.

Neerav Aiyappa of Mysuru and Aadi Kuchlous, Arnav Satish Sindhoor of Bengaluru were the three winners among the nine who were felicitated by HRD Minister Smriti Irani.

The competition was organised by Google under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan of the Human Resource Development Ministry. The ‘Code to Learn 2015’ contest saw over hundreds of entries from across the country. Students from over 50 cities participated.

Aiyappa from Excel Public School, Mysuru, and Kuchlous from the Inventure Academy Bengaluru belong to Class V, whereas Arnav Satish Sindhoor is a class 7 student at the International Public School, Bengaluru.

Other winners included Srikrishna Madhusudhanan of BVM Global School, Chennai, Dev Parikh of Apeejay School, Pitampura, Delhi, Bitthal Maheshwari of Gagan Public School, Aligarh, UP, Shyam from St Michael’s Academy Higher Secondary School, Chennai, Arjun S from Velammal Vidhyashram, Surapet, Chennai, and Annanay Sachdeva from Heritage School, Gurgaon.

The jury comprised scientists and computer engineers from Google, ACM (Association of Computing Machinery) India and the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi.

Irani launched the next edition of Google’s ‘Code to Learn-2016’ contest and suggested to Google India team that it may identify students from government schools as well, for participating in the contest.
