Kozhikode: In a shocking incident, a man with improvised explosive used for fishing strapped around his waist embraced a woman, killing both of them, in Wayanad in Kerala on Friday afternoon.

The deceased are Amala, 38, wife of Elavana Nazar, and Peringattel Benny, 48, from Moolankavu. The
the incident took place at Nazar’s house at Naikkatti, near Sultan Bethery in Wayanad, when Nazar was out for his Friday prayers.

The five-year-old daughter of Amala fell unconscious due to the blast outside the house. She is safe.
The people at the mosque nearby had rushed to the spot after hearing the blast, only to find dismembered bodies.

It is said that Benny and Nazar were family friends and any other detail from Nazar’s equation with Amala are yet to be ascertained. However, Benny and Amala together ran a centre.

Amala leaves behind her husband and three daughters. Benny is survived by a wife and two children. He was a carpenter by profession and ran a furniture shop at Moolankkavu, about 3 km from Naikkatti.

A team of forensic experts, bomb squad personnel and a dog squad inspected the blast site.
