New Delhi: A tragic incident unfolded in Denver, USA, where a 13-year-old has been apprehended for the murder of a 60-year-old man aboard a public bus. The appalling altercation reportedly began when the teenager accused the elderly man, Richard Sanchez, of obstructing the aisle with his leg. Despite Sanchez’s explanation that he couldn’t move his leg, the dispute escalated, resulting in a fatal shooting.
According to reports from the New York Post, Sanchez’s family was oblivious to his demise until they attempted to file a missing person report several days later. The incident occurred merely blocks away from Sanchez’s residence.
Denver Police released a statement indicating that a verbal confrontation regarding the blocked aisle led to the shooting. Sanchez was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries, while another individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Following an intensive investigation, authorities apprehended the 13-year-old suspect less than a week after the harrowing incident. The suspect is currently held for investigation of First-Degree Murder, with the final charges to be determined by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
The news of Sanchez’s death came as a shock to his family, who only discovered his fate when they approached the authorities to report him missing on the subsequent Monday.
“It’s been incredibly difficult because we were unaware of his whereabouts, and all the while, he was in the hospital without anyone by his side,” lamented Joseph Chavez, Sanchez’s grandson. The family is grappling with the profound loss and the circumstances surrounding Sanchez’s tragic end.
