New Delhi: After blocking 17 recent terrorist infiltration attempts and facing rising terrorist strikes across Kashmir Valley, India finally thumped back across the LoC, at 7 locations, with a scrupulously executed attack. It destroyed staging areas, as well as dreams for terrorists planning to cross the LoC and dropped some of their Pakistan army supporters.
All this received open expressions of support and comfort for India from major world leaderships like Russia, UK, US, France and Germany. But, what has jolted Pakistan is the backing for India from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and Bahrain -countries which they regarded as their “natural allies“.
Sushma swaraj, the external affairs minister also reinforced the PM’s efforts while speaking at the UN General Assembly. Where it will not be very wise to believe that Pakistan will put a full-stop at supporting terrorism anytime soon, it has forced the world to think if Pakistan will escalate the use to nuclear weapons after this attack. The former head of its nuclear command authority, Lt. General Khalid Kidwai has acknowledged that Pakistan would use nuclear weapons if its army is at the verge of being defeated or the country’s populated areas are threatened.
In his recent speech in Kozhikode, PM Modi asked the Pakistanis to urge their leaders to co-operate with India in aiming for progress and prosperity. And this needs to be re-emphasized as many times as it calls for it.
While countries like the US keep urging “restraint“ and dialogue“, now they will have to save no effort to advise Pakistan to rein in terrorism.
