Guwahati: In a daredevil act, an Adivasi woman killed and chopped off private part of a fellow tribal man who attempted to rape her and her daughter.
The woman later buried the body of the man with the help of seven other women, at Bharajuli village in Jinjia area, Assam.
The incident, which happened on April 4, came to light only on Tuesday evening. The murdered man was identified as Krishna Bhumij (30). The woman identified as Rita Orang and her husband were arrested on Wednesday and produced in court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
The police found about the murder when they started probing into missing complaint filed by Bhumij’s family.
The victim was a noted criminal who was on run after non-bailable arrest warrants were issued against him in two cases.
The body was exhumed on Tuesday night and sent for an autopsy.
The woman had said that Bhumij tried to rape her and her daughter and that is when she found a weapon nearby.
It is said that Bhumij had ran for life, but the lady hunted him down.
“Later, I chopped off his private parts as I feared that he could survive the attack and retaliate,”The New Indian Express quoted the accused.
Rita also said she had buried the body that evening itself with the help of seven other women.
