Rameswaram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his three-day tour of Tamil Nadu with a visit to Arichalmunai, the southern tip of the state, as part of his Ramayana-themed itinerary. During his visit, he paid homage to the seashore, engaged in ‘pranayama’ and offered prayers using seawater.
Arichalmunai is believed to be the site where the legendary Ram Setu, also known as Adam’s Bridge, was constructed by Lord Ram with the assistance of the ‘Vaanara sena’ to reach Lanka for the battle against Ravana.
Having spent the previous night in Rameswaram, PM Modi drove to Arichalmunai and laid flowers on the beach. He also honored a pillar adorned with the national emblem. This visit follows his participation in the inauguration of the Khelo India Games 2023 in Chennai on Friday.
During his stay, the Prime Minister explored the Sri Ranganathaswamy and Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy temples in Srirangam and Rameswaram, respectively, emphasizing the Ramayana connection. Notably, these visits occurred just before the consecration of the grand Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, scheduled for Monday.
This tour extended beyond Tamil Nadu, as earlier in the week, PM Modi visited temples in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of his journey.
