Lucknow: To mark six months of Yogi Adityanath as Chief Minister, the Uttar Pradesh government released a new tourism booklet. Controversy arose when it was noticed that the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was missing from this booklet.

The brochure has led many to question whether this mistake has anything to do with Yogi’s controversial remarks in June, when he said that the Taj Mahal did not represent Indian culture, unlike the Ramayana and the Bhagavad Gita.

This controversial brochure was released by Tourism Minister Rita Bahuguna, who asserted that the State was “committed” to developing the Taj Mahal and other sites connected to it. The UP state government denies that the Taj Mahal was deliberately omitted from the booklet.

The booklet catalogues various popular tourist attractions like the temple in Gorakhpur along with mentions of other cultural and heritage sites as well as the various projects being undertaken by the state government to enhance India’s attractiveness as a tourist destination.
