New Delhi: A true soldier never gives up, it is said. True to this saying, a CRPF soldier who has braved all odds after being shot at nine times has finally come out of comatose after two months of the incident.
45-yr-old CRPF commandant Chetan Cheetah, had slipped in to coma two months ago after he suffered fatal injuries during an encounter with three terrorists in Kashmir’s Bandipora which claimed the lives of three Indian soldiers. However his strong will has helped him survive the ordeal and not only is he out of coma now but even expressed his desire to get back to line of duty as soon as possible.
Doctors at the AIIMS trauma centre, where Cheetah underwent treatment for a month in ICU on Tuesday said that he is fit to go home. Cheetah was admitted to the hospital with bilateral upper limbs fractures, bullet injuries in his head and the globe of his right eye had ruptured. Cheetah was shifted to normal ward from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on March 16 and was also taken off the ventilator.
Cheetah was first taken to military hospital in Srinagar where medications were given to prevent bleeding. However, given the extent of the injuries and his comatose state, it was decided to airlift him to the AIIMS trauma centre.
Union Minister Rijiju who paid a visit to the officer on Wednesday termed his recovery miraculous adding that the day I came here when Cheetah was brought from Srinagar, it was difficult to imagine that he will talk to me.
Kudos to the brave soldier!
