New Delhi: The Shiv Sena in its recent editorial in party mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ took potshots at the BJP and asked whether PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti will raise ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogan before assuming charge as the CM of Jammu and Kashmir.

The editorial said that given the ‘nationalist’ sentiment in the country, Mehbooba Mufti should raise Bharat Matai Ki Jai slogan before assuming power as the chief minister.

Party spokesperson Sanjay Raur said that salutations like Jai Hind or Bharat Mata Ki Jai are symbols of our nationalism. Referring to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement that efforts should be made to establish the salutation of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ across the globe, Raur said that the mission should start from Kashmir.

Alleging Mehbooba being a sympatheizer of Afzal Guru and the separatists, he said, “this feeling comes from within. If Mehbooba Mufti has changed her mind after joining hands with the BJP then she should raise the slogans before she takes oath as CM”, he added.

AAP leader Mishra in an open letter to Shah, said, “Does Mehbooba Mufti believe in Bharat Mata ki Jai? If not, will the BJP form government with her? Will she raise slogans saying Afzal Guru was a terrorist? If not, then what is the compulsion for you (BJP) to form a govt with her?”

Former J&K CM Omar Abdullah too taunted BJP and tweeted, “Is Mehbooba Mufti also going to be asked to chant #BharatMataKiJai as a condition for Govt formation in J&K?”
