Scary selfies become integral part of business for extortionists in Bihar!

Patna: In Bhar, thugs, rogues and gangsters too made innovations in their trade and put to use the advancements in the digital era!

In a recent incident reported from Darbhanga in North Bihar, an extortionist gang had sent a picture of the kingpin and the henchmen brandishing dangerous weapons in their hands to a school teacher over whatsapp. The intention was to instill fear in the victim and compel him to pay the demanded ransom.

The matter came to light when Shyam Kumar Rai, a resident of Navtolia village, received a message and a phone call from notorious gangster Naveen Singh asking him to pay Rs 5 lakh immediately and to leave no doubts in the mind of the victim that he was not making any empty threats, Singh forwarded a few selfies of himself and his gangster boss Raju Dhakal carrying a pistol, bomb and even a carbine in their hands, reported India Today.

Shyam panicked and rushed to the police station to register a complaint in this regard.

Acting fast, the Darbhanga police subsequently set up a special team and arrested Naveen Singh along with his driver Sukhdev Rai while they were travelling in a Scorpio near Navtolia on last Thursday. The police seized the cellphone which was used to send the pictures. The police also recovered the pictures which were sent from his cellphone.
