SC stays K’taka by-polls in major relief to rebel MLAs

New Delhi: In a big relief to the 15 disqualified MLAs, a three-judge divisional bench of the Supreme Court has stayed the Central Election Commission’s decision to conduct by-polls in fifteen assembly constituencies of the state.

Earlier, the CEC had notified that by-elections will be held for 15 constituencies on October 21

Former Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar had disqualified the MLAs from contesting in elections till 2023.

The case of the rebel MLAs has been adjourned to October 22.
