SC Judgment:MP Rashid Masood Likely the First to Disqualify

New Delhi:Congress Rajya Sabha member Rashid Masood who was proved to be involved in medical-seats-scam likely to become the first to be disqualified as per the recent Supreme Court (SC) judgement.

Rashid Masood was involved in the scam when he was union minister of health for Tripura state 2 decades ago.  He was also involved in recent controversy over his statement that one can have a meal in New Delhi for Rs 5.

CBI special court issued judgment that sixty-six-year-old Rashid Masood was found guilty in medical-seats-sharing-scam in Tripura state during 1990 – 91.  He has to undergo prison sentence of 1 to 7 years, while there are possibilities that Masood will try to escape citing his ill health.

Rashid Masood, hailing from Uttar Pradesh was once an Indian Deputy President candidate and a member of Congress executive Committee.

SC issued recent judgement, any MLA or MP if he has been proved of his criminal background will be disqualified.  SC also denied the petition that was forwarded by union government in order to review its judgment.
