Lucknow:BJP MLA Suresh Rana has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police on Friday for delivering inflammatory speech that led to the riots in Muzaffarnagar.

Rana was arrested soon after the UP Assembly ended.

Arrest warrants have been issued against 16 other leaders from the BJP, Congress and SP. But Rana was the first to be arrested.

Earlier, members of the ruling Samajwadi Party and BJP on Friday came to blows in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly after the House was adjourned over accusations on the recent Muzaffarangar riots which claimed 47 lives.
