Chennai: Shortly after the news broke that three of Jayalalithaa’s trusted aides had been removed from key posts on Friday, it is now rumoured that Sasikala may take over the reins of the government at a meeting here tomorrow.

It is reported that the MLAs would urge Sasikala, the AIADMK General Secretary, to take over as Chief Minister in the meeting scheduled on Sunday aftenoon.

Earlier on Friday night Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam removed Sheela Balakrishnan, KN Venkataramanan and Shanta Sheela Nair appointed by J Jayalalithaa from CM’s office, a move that is tipped to be set off by Sasikala.

Sheela Balakrishnan had played a key role in the State’s administration when Jayalalithaa was in hospital.

More details awaited.
