Chandigarh: Former Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi made a controversial statement regarding the recent terror attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. Channi suggested that the attack was a pre-election tactic orchestrated by the BJP.
Describing the incident as political theatrics rather than a genuine terrorist assault, The Congress leader accused the BJP of callously manipulating the lives and safety of citizens for electoral gains. He claimed that such attacks were strategically timed to coincide with elections, asserting that similar events occurred during previous general elections.
The attack on the IAF convoy resulted in the death of one personnel and injuries to four others, one of whom is reportedly in critical condition. The assailants opened fire on the convoy in Sanai village, Surankote, prompting a swift response from security forces who launched a large-scale search and cordon operation in pursuit of the terrorists. Joint efforts between the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police are underway to apprehend the perpetrators, who are believed to have fled into a nearby forest.
