New Delhi: The monsoon session of parliament began on Monday but the Lok Sabha was adjourned shortly due to the death of Madhya Pradesh MP Dalpat Singh Paraste.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the newly-inducted ministers in the Lok Sabha, which will resume on Tuesday.
In the Rajya Sabha, the session started with Chairman Mohammad Hamid Ansari administering the oath of office to the newly-elected members of the house.
Following an uproar after Bahujan Samajwadi Party chief Mayawati raised issues pertaining to cases of Dalit atrocities in Gujarat, the Rajya Sabha has been briefly adjourned.
“Since BJP came to power, atrocities against Dalits are on the rise across the country,” said Mayawati. This led to uproar and the House was adjourned for 10 minutes. The Monsoon Session of Parliament began earlier on Monday.
