Malegaon blast case: Supreme Court asks lower court to consider bail plea of Sadhvi Pragya Singh

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked lower court to consider within a monthbail plea of accused, including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, in 2008 Malegaon blasts case.

Except one accused, Supreme Court asked trial court not to consider Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) provisions while deciding bail pleas of other undertrials in the case.

The court further said that MCOCA provisions apply on Rakesh D Dhawde due to his involvement in previous case.

The other accused in the case are – Rajendra Choudhary, Lokesh Sharma, Jitendra Sharma.

Sadhvi is an accused in the September 29, 2008, blast at Malegaon in Nashik district in which six persons died and several others injured.

She was arrested on October 23, 2008, in regard to her alleged involvement in the crime. The police had invoked Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act in this case and arrested other accused as well.

Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur is also an accused in the murder of  Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker Sunil Joshi.
