Kolhapur: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray expressed regret for supporting Prime Minister Modi in previous elections, alleging that the Modi government has betrayed Maharashtra.
Thackeray, along with his Maha Vikas Aghadi ally Sharad Pawar, addressed a rally in Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur district, supporting Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Satyajit Patil from Hatkanangale constituency.
Reflecting on the circumstances surrounding the collapse of his government in 2019, Thackeray criticized the Supreme Court’s delay in resolving the dispute over Shiv Sena’s authenticity, attributing decisions made by the Election Commission and the arbitrator, Maharashtra Speaker Rahul Narwekar, to BJP influence. He accused PM Modi of pressuring the court by labeling them a “fake Shiv Sena.”
Pawar echoed Thackeray’s sentiments, alleging that PM Modi only criticizes him and Thackeray during visits to Maharashtra, neglecting to address state issues. Pawar condemned the misuse of central agencies and highlighted the arrests of Arvind Kejriwal and Hemant Soren in alleged corruption cases.
He accused the BJP of exploiting Shiv Sena’s support in the Lok Sabha elections but undermining its candidates in assembly polls, vowing to seek retribution.
At a rally in Kolhapur city for Congress candidate Shahu Chhatrapati, Thackeray and Pawar continued their criticism of PM Modi. Pawar stated that while previous prime ministers focused on national issues during state visits, Modi targets them relentlessly.
