Sini Shetty, 22, to Represent India at Miss World Pageant

Sini Shetty, the winner of Miss India 2022, will compete for India in today’s Miss World competition in Mumbai. After 28 years, the global beauty pageant is returning to India for its 71st edition, with competitors from 112 countries vying for the title of Miss World.

Talking about the upcoming pageant, the former 22-year-old marketing professional described the opportunity to represent India as the “biggest pleasure” of her life.

“My representation means the world to me. I am not representing myself I am representing 1.4 billion people and that’s a huge responsibility all together because you are representing Indian culture, diverse traditions that we have, the feelings and the emotions of each and every individual living in this country,” she told news agency ANI.

Here are 5 facts about the Miss India 2022 winner:

  1. Born in Mumbai, Sini Shetty represented Karnataka in the Femina Miss India 2022 contest as her family belong to the southern state.
  2. Ms Shetty graduated with a degree in accounting and finance and has worked as a marketing professional.
  3. The 22-year-old beauty icon is now working towards becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst.
  4. The winner of Miss India 2022 is also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, a skill she also displayed for her performance at the beauty pageant.
  5. Ms Shetty says her journey has been inspired by former Miss World 2000 and actor Priyanka Chopra.
