Mumbai (Maharashtra): In the most recent development concerning the shooting incident near actor Salman Khan’s residence, the Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended a fifth individual.
The person, known as Mohammad Chaudhary, was taken into custody in Rajasthan for his alleged role in assisting the shooters, Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta.
According to Mumbai Crime Branch officials, Chaudhary allegedly provided financial support and conducted reconnaissance for the attackers.
Chaudhary’s arrest comes amid the ongoing investigation into the shooting incident that shook the Bandra area of Mumbai.
This arrest adds another dimension to the intricate network of people associated with the attack on Salman Khan’s residence.
Unfortunately, the case took a tragic turn with the death of Anuj Thapan, one of the arms suppliers involved. Thapan was discovered dead in his cell on May 1, reportedly due to suicide.
Mumbai Police revealed that Thapan had attempted suicide while in custody and was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
Thapan’s arrest on April 26 was a significant breakthrough in the investigation, providing insight into the network responsible for supplying weapons to the perpetrators of the attack.
The incident, which took place on April 14, involved two attackers firing shots outside the Galaxy Apartments, where Salman Khan lives, before fleeing the scene. Subsequent arrests revealed connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
In response to the seriousness of the case, Mumbai Police invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against all the accused involved in the shooting incident.
Additionally, a lookout notice has been issued for Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in connection with the case.
