Mumbai: After enforcing a ban on the manufacture, use and sale of single-use plastic materials in June 2018, the Maharashtra government has now issued a refundable surcharge on milk packets.

Reportedly, the consumer will be payed 50 paise per plastic packet of milk on returning it to the retailer.

The initiative is taken by the Maharashtra government to encourage recycling of plastic milk packets.
