New Delhi:  The Lok Sabha is set to debate and vote on the landmark Lokpal on December 18, Wednesday. Earlier, the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed the Bill after a five-hour debate.

Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare has said he will call off his indefinite hunger strike which is now in its ninth day only after the Lower House passes the bill.

Reportedly the Prime Minister will be under the purview of the anti-corruption watchdog, with some safeguards. It will have the power to order and oversee investigations, which will be time-bound and will imply prosecution.

Several recommendations of the committee have been incorporated to change the outline of the bill. It delinks the appointment of Lokayuktas in states from the Lokpal at the Centre, a major federal demand.
