Lalit Modi banned for life by BCCI

Chennai:Suspended Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi has been banned for life by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday.

Lalit ModiWith this decision, taken at a Special General Meeting of the BCCI, Modi will not be allowed to participate in any activities involving the cricket board.

Modi was expelled on the basis of findings by the BCCI that found him guilty of eight charges. All 30 members attended the Board meeting and found him guilty of “various acts of indiscipline”.

“Resolved that Mr. Lalit Modi is guilty of committing acts of serious misconduct and indiscipline, and therefore, in exercise of powers as per Regulation 32 of the Memorandum and Rules and Regulations of the Board, Mr.Lalit Modi be and is hereby expelled from the BCCI. He shall forfeit all his rights and privileges as Administrator. He shall not in future be entitled to hold any position or office, or be admitted in any Committee or any member or associate member of the Board,” BCCI secretary, Sanjay Patil said in a statement.

It took just 11 minutes for the board to arrive at the verdict at the meeting at Chennai.
