New Delhi: Team India and Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has come under fire for his ignorance of the medias questions on spot-fixing. Dhoni, in a press conference on Tuesday evening, did not say a word every time there was a question regarding the latest spot-fixing row that has rocked Indian cricket.

Dhoni was bombarded with questions regarding the spot-fixing issue during Indian teams departure press conference in Mumbai ahead of the Champions Trophy. But Dr R N Baba, media manager of the BCCI, parried the queries, acting according to the diktat of the cricket board to not entertain any questions on the episode.

Ever since the scandal broke out, Dhoni, captain of the Chennai Super Kings team owned by Srinivasan, has not said anything on the issue and he did not address the media even at the IPL final in Kolkata. On Tuesday, media personnel hoping to get the captains views were left disappointed lot. But the BCCI could not prevent one of its own influential members from speaking out against Srinivasan.

Dhonis silence has come under criticism. The sources said “people are terribly disappointed with Dhoni. Now if  Dhoni had even moderately expressed his opinion on what happened, they are not going to sack him.The time has come to ask the BCCI President to resign. The time has come to break through the silence and the issue must be forced.”

Former cricketer Maninder Singh also added that Dhoni could have given a diplomatic answer. “I think he could have just been diplomatically correct. I think he is going to regret this press conference when he leaves cricket because he could have really handled it in a better way.”
