Mumbai: The dreadful act committed by Girish Khote, of murdering his wife and literally chopping her body off was merely done as he wanted cash for his girlfriend who was a bar dancer.

Girish in his confession told that he got married to Madhumanti, who was a French national, in 2010. He had been having an affair with a bar girl and used to ask for money from his wife to spend on the girl. The couple used to fight constantly over this.

According to the police officials, on Tuesday afternoon, the day of the murder, Khote asked his wife for Rs. 20,000 to spend on his girlfriend who worked at a beer bar at Dahisar. An annoyed Madhumanti knew that there would be no end to it and the couple started arguing. The fight turned violent when Madhumanti refused to give him any more money.
 
Moreover, it is also learnt that Madhumanti who owned all the properties and back accounts threatened Girish to return to France to her grandmother, along with their two-and-half-year-old kid. Understanding that he would lose everything he has, in a fit of rage he started hitting Madhumanti and later stifled her to death.

The police officer at Mira road police station also added that Girish panicked on the situation and left the body in the bedroom. He later called up his cousin and went to a nearby mall. He bought knives, cotton, detergent, cleaning material and duct tape. He chopped her body into pieces and packed them into bags. He then stuffed the wrapped up parts into the refrigerator.

During the confession the police said that Girish had revealed that he never intended to kill his wife but only wanted to hit her.
