Uttar Pradesh: Allegations that several Hindus have been forced to leave their homes in a village of Kairana in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh following targeted attacks has left the police on their toes.

As per BJP lawmaker from Kairana, Hukum Singh, as many as 346 families have been forced to the town, which has an 85 per cent Muslim population.
However, the police have denied the allegation and the possibility of such large migration.
“I have heard of a list and we have asked for it too. We will verify each and every name on it. Some people from there came to meet me and have told me that they have not fled and that their names have just been added to that list,” Ashok Kumar Raghav, a senior police officer in the area is quoted in the media.
Meanwhile, the BJP has brought individual cases to the attention of the National Human rights Commission.
It is said that the Commission has served notice to the state’s Chief Secretary and Director General of Police and has asked him to reply within four weeks to the allegations that families of a particular religion are leaving the area due to fear of criminals.
