New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh has opined that the two-child norm should be mandated for all, irrespective of their religion.
Singh, the MP from Nawada on BJP ticket, made the remarks at a cultural event in Bagaha, West Champaran, Bihar.
His argument was that if India failed to achieve the two-child norm for people of all religions then daughters would have to live in veils, like in Pakistan.
As per reports, Singh said that Hindus and Muslims should follow the two-children norm claiming that there are several districts in Bihar where population of Muslims has recorded an increase faster than that of Hindus.
“Our population is declining. There is a need to change the population policy so that out daughters like safely here. If not, then we will have to keep our daughters in veils, as done in Pakistan” Singh, Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, said.
