Gujarat put on alert on tip off by Pak on infiltration of 10 suicide bombers

Ahmedabad: With Pakistan sharing some crucial intelligence details with Indian counterpart about a possible terror strikes by Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammed, Gujarat has been put on alert.

In a first, Pakistan’s National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasir Khan Janjua has shared an intelligence input with Ajit Doval that 10 suicide bombers had entered Gujarat to carry out strikes.

The warning from Pakistan comes after five abandoned Pakistani boats found in the past three months in Kutch. An abandoned boat was found by a BSF patrolling team off Koteshwar coast in Kutch on Friday.

With this, Gujarat has been put high alert on Saturday and security measures have been beefed up at all the sensitive ares, places of worship and public places in the state.

Also, two NSG teams rushed to Gujarat and put on stand following high level alert. Important monuments and pilgrimage centres like Somnath temple, Dwarka Temple, Akashardham, power plants, defence, dams like Sardar Sarovar Dam and security establishments have also been put on alert.

Intelligence agencies believe that this infiltration is aimed at creating disturbances on or around Mahashivaratri which falls on Monday.

With this, Gujarat DGP PC Thakur has convened an emergency meeting on the sensitive matter and alerts were sounded in all major cities and districts of the state. Also, issuing a notification, the DGP cancelled the leave of all police officers and personnel till further directives.
