Kochi: The photos and videos of Fr Tom Uzhunnalil who was said to be abducted by unidentified gunmen belonging to Islamic State (IS) have been uploaded on Facebook.

The new posts are uploaded on the Fr Tom’s account on Facebook. It is said that the account was inactive for a long time.

Fr Tom sported a long beard and hair, with hands placed on his chest in the photo. The post which appeared around 3.30pm had the text “Fr Tom’s entreaty will be uploaded soon”. The post tagged 17 Facebook users who are Fr Tom’s friends.

A video too was uploaded where a man looking like Fr Tom is blindfolded. In the video, the priest, who has been blindfolded, is shown being slapped by an unidentified person.

Father Tom Uzhunnalil, who hails from Ramapuram in Kottayam district in Kerala, was abducted in March this year by the terror group in Yemen, a conflict zone. He had gone missing after the militant group attacked a care home run by Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity.
