Nashik: The Hazrat Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Mangala Express that travels from Delhi to Ernakulam derailed this morning 6.30 am, 30 km away from Nashik in Maharashtra.
Five people have been declared dead until now whereas 13 others are seriously injured and are taken to the hospital; more than 20 people are still trapped under as eight coaches of the train derailed.
The incident took place between Ghoti station and Igatpuri station; the railway officials deduce that there could be more causalities as per the nature of the accident.
Relief operation are on their way, and measure are been taken although the accident has completely blocked the route.
A railway official at Nashik confirmed the busy traffic on the Mumbai – Nashik route is badly hit. Manmad-Kurla-Godavari Express and Manmad-Mumbai Panchavati Express have been cancelled whereas Sevagram Express and Rajya Rani Express are halted at Lasalgaon for a very long time.
