The nail-biting five state poll counting has begun on Tuesday, Dec 11. Pegged as the direct fight for glory between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi, the initial trends hint at the BJP leading in Madhya Pradesh, where incumbent Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is bidding for his fourth term as the Chief Minister.
The Congress is leading in the state of Rajasthan, where the anti-incumbency factor was predicted to favour the Congress, even before the state went in for polls. The Congress is leading in Chattisgarh as well.
The initial trends showed Mizo National Front leading in Mizoram, which is the last bastion of Congress in North-East India.
Telangana has Telangana Rashtra Samiti leading.
The five state polls are being looked at as an indicator of the political mood of the nation ahead of the 2019 parliamentary elections.
