
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has warned people living overseas about a fake WhatsApp message, regarding online voting, that has been doing the rounds.
According to the message, NRIs can vote online in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The message informs NRI voters to register online on eci.gov.in to enrol as an overseas voter.
ECI spokesperson Sheyphali Sharan cautioned the NRI community about the fake message through her Twitter handle.

In a series of tweets, Sheyphali said, “To cast vote, an Overseas voter may come to his/her designated Polling station with Passport as the document for identification.”
“There is no online voting facility for any category of voter. Overseas Indians may submit application for enrolment in form 6A online at https://nvsp.in or by using Voter helpline mobile app,” Sheyphali added.
