New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has defended party’s move to field Rahul Gandhi from Rae Bareli seat instead of Amethi for the general election.
He said the decision was taken after a lot of deliberation and strategy, and that the constituency is not just a legacy but also a responsibility. The Congress general secretary said it is long election process and each move needs to tread carefully, a few chess moves still left to play.
The senior Congress leader on a question why Priyanka Gandhi not contesting any election, stated that she can reach Parliament by contesting any bypoll. But now her concentration is taking on PM Modi and exposing his lies. She touring vigorously, and she countering Narendra Modi effectively. She should not be restricted to her constituency only. She can reach Parliament by contesting any bypoll, he said.
Ramesh said today Smriti Irani’s only identity is that she contests elections from Amethi against Rahul Gandhi.
“Now Smriti Irani has lost that fame too. Now instead of making useless statements, she should answer about local development, “he said.
