Late on Friday and early on Saturday, the Delhi Police and the National Security Guard (NSG) held security drills at the IGI airport, the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, and the DPS RK Puram here. Days after fake bomb threats were sent to around 200 schools, the drills are taking place.
The exercise was carried out by Delhi Police and NSG commandos at IGI airport on Friday at 10 p.m.
The airport’s security guard, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), received a warning about a fictitious terror attack as part of the exercise.
Other agencies like fire department and Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) also joined the drill, which went on for at least half an hour, an officer said.
There’s no reason to panic, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) assured the reporters. This is a simulated terror attack that is being carried out in tandem with other agencies.” At 1 a.m. at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, 1.30 a.m. at Hyderbad House, and 3 a.m. at Delhi Public School in RK Puram, a similar operation was carried out.
At the school, the security personnel checked their preparedness against a terror attack or a bomb plant.
Earlier on Friday, mock drills were conducted at Taj Palace Hotel, Yasho Bhoomi in Dwarka, Kashmere Gate Metro Station and the New Parliament building in central Delhi.
