New Delhi: Amidst raging protests, the metropolitan police on Saturday April 20 early morning, arrested a twenty-five-year-old youth accused of raping a five-year-old girl in the national capital.
The accused was arrested in Chiknouta, his in-laws village, in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar.
The youth was arrested by a team of metropolitan police with the help of local police.
The police have slapped murder charges on the accused twenty-five-year-old Manoj Kumar.
The accused who had come here by a train from New Delhi, was traced after tracking his mobile phone location, informed police sources.
Kumar had married recently and his wife had come to her parents place 2 days ago.
The accused, working as labourer in New Delhi, is a native of Bharphua village of the district.
The five-year-old girl was abducted on April 15 and kept hostage for 2 days without food and water in a flat owned by the assaulter in Gandhi Nagar, New Delhi (East).
The girl and her family stayed in the same building where Kumar lived.
The girl, who was raped repeatedly, was rescued when members of her family heard her screams on Wednesday April 17 evening, informed police.
The police officials said that they have slapped Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 376 (a) (rape), 362-A (kidnapping) among others of IPC and 6 and 9 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, 2012.
The girl is battling for life in AIIMS after she contracted infection from foreign objects inserted into her genitals.
A doctor said he and his colleagues had never seen such a brutal rape. They said a bottle and pieces of candle were found thrust into the private parts of the girl.
‘We found a 200 milliliter bottle and 2 or 3pieces of candle inserted into her private parts. This is the first time I have seen such barbarism, said RK Bansal, medical superintendent of Swami Dayanand Hospital where the girl was admitted initially but was later shifted to AIIMS.
‘There were injuries on her lips, cheeks, arms and anus area, and bruise marks on her neck, suggesting that attempts were made to strangle her. The blood pressure was way below normal, said the doctor.
