
Bengaluru: Following the reports of massive damages and loss of life after Sunday night’s rainfall, Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development minister Dr G Parameshwara visited the rain-affected areas on Monday and held a meeting with the BBMP officers. He directed the authorities to ensure early relief and repair works.
According to sources, Dr Parameshwara expressed his displeasure over the poor preparedness of the authorities. He also expressed his unhappiness over the way in which the works were implemented.
During the meeting, it was informed that in just two days, over 34,000 calls were received by the BESCOM helpline. As many as 45 helplines are working, while another 20 will be added soon.
Parameshwara also asked officials to be active on social media to ensure early solutions to the problems faced by the general public.
Earlier in the day, he visited parts of West Bengaluru which was hit badly by the rain and wind. He informed that the BBMP, BESCOM and other civic agencies are working on a war footing to rectify the damages.
