Shamli: A nine-year-old boy was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday when workers of the ruling Samajwadi Party allegedly went firing shots in the air to celebrate a local election victory.

The ‘celebration firing’ went on for about half an hour in Shamli district, that too in presence of the police.

Unfortunately, the celebration of the large crowd ended the life of Harsh, who was passing by in an auto with his mother.
He was shot in the chest. He was rushed to a hospital, but he succumbed to the injury.

Harsh’s relatives took his body and sat in protest on a highway, blocking traffic for hours in that part of western Uttar Pradesh.

A video of the firing shows men, allegedly Samajwadi workers, walking on the road with rifles, firing shots, clapping and dancing, facing no restrictions. There have been no arrests till now.
