Mumbai: A 17-year-old boy on Friday died in Mumbai Juvenile Home after he was brutally assaulted in custody. The deceased named two inmates and the warden of David Sassoon Juvenile Home in Matunga.

The boy had been taken in custody in connection with a theft case on April 17. Before his death, he told police that he was tortured and sodomised.

His family members have claimed that he was beaten with bamboo sticks and they are planning to approach the state government in the case. The victim was arrested on charges of theft.

A case of murder has been registered.
