The Jharkhand unit of the BJP has called for a thorough investigation and the arrest of a leader from the JMM over alleged derogatory comments directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to Pratul Shahdeo, the state spokesperson for the BJP, a video purportedly featuring Nazrul Islam, a member of the JMM central committee, surfaced wherein he purportedly stated that the prime minister “would be buried 400-feet below” in the election, rather than winning 400 seats.
It should be noted that the authenticity of the video could not be independently verified by PTI.
The JMM, in response, mentioned that if Nazrul Islam indeed made such remarks, he would be issued a show-cause notice.
Shahdeo highlighted that the alleged derogatory remarks were made by Islam during a public gathering in Sahebganj on Sunday, and criticized the lack of action by the police thus far.
In reaction to these developments, Babulal Marandi, the state BJP president, attributed the alleged comments to the JMM’s declining mental stability, purportedly due to Prime Minister Modi’s popularity.
Meanwhile, the JMM clarified that they do not endorse such comments by any of their members. According to JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey, if Islam did make such a statement, he would be reprimanded by the party. However, Pandey also emphasized the importance of verifying the context surrounding Islam’s statement.
