New Delhi: In its bid to encounter the rising incidents of China’s troops foraying into India through the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Indian Army has decided to upgrade its security.

The army has positioned over 100 battle tanks at over 14,000 feet in Eastern Ladakh. Sources said that they build new roads, bunkers and positioned the three tanks, Tipu Sultan, Maharana Pratap and Aurangzeb of the Indian Army about six to eight months ago.

While India had neglected the infrastructure along the border after the Indo-China war of 1962, China tightened its security on the terrain. Since 2012, The Indian Army began deploying units on longer tenure along the LAC. To match up with their counterparts, India has improved the infrastructure including roads and landing grounds on the LAC.

“We have to defend our borders. So whatever it takes us in terms of infrastructure development, in terms of force accretion, we have to do in the best manner,” said Lt Gen SK Patyal, General Officer Commanding the Leh-based 14 Corps.

However, the climatic conditions in these heights on the border affect the performance of the tanks. The Indian Army uses special lubricants and fuel to keep the tanks running.

As many as 100 tanks have been positioned near the border and more are expected soon. With this, India has sent an indication to the Chinese troops that it’s not going to take any move from them lightly.
