New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi on Saturday December 28 as an estimated 40,000 people cheered for him at the Ram Lila Maidan.

At a massive public park in the heart of the city, 45-year-old Arvind Kejriwal, the youngest CM in Delhi took oath as Delhi’s seventh chief minister at a public ceremony watched by tens of thousands of excited supporters and on live television by people across the country.

It was the culmination of a momentous campaign for people’s rights that was mounted by Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that was formed just a year ago.

Kejriwal has said he and his ministers will not occupy the sprawling bungalows surrounded by lush lawns in Delhi. Kejriwal travelled by metro true to his party’s name  Aam Aadmi Party.

During his speech he promised that he would never encourage bribe. He also said that he will never let the pride of being a politician hamper him and requested his party members also to work towards the society and eradicate corruption.

After Kejriwal took his oath, Anna Harzare commented saying, “Politics is to do our duty and serve the society without expecting anything in return. Serving the society is like worshiping god, Arvind is working with the outlook of a common man in the politics and that is the way it should be, thus I wish him luck.”

“I believe that he will prove a good CM”, he added.
