95 students fall ill after mid-day meals at Napoklu School

Napoklu :  As many as  95 students of the  Ballamamati Netaji High School near year were taken ill after they consumed mid-day meals at the school on February 13, Thursday. All the students were admitted to the local community health centre. Four of them whose condition was a little worse, were shifted to the Madikeri District Hospital. Presently, reports state all the children have recovered.

It is learnt, the students as usual had mid-day meals provided at the school under the Akshara Dasoha scheme of the government. Soon after lunch, ten students began to wail in pain saying they had stomach ache and heart burn.  They were immediately taken to the Napoklu Government Community Health Centre. Very soon  many other students also started making similar complaints and all students were rushed to the  hospital in private vehicles as well as ambulance.

No sooner the news spread worried parents rushed to the hospital. It is learnt some students had vomited soon after lunch while even the school clerk Kalayya too  fell ill.

Dr Ravinda, Medical Officer of the Community Health  Centre said  timely treatment has been provided to all the children. Taluk Panchayat Member Nerevanda Umesh, School Management Board President Manumuttappa, ZP member Bollamma Nanyayya, Headmaster Kumarwasamy and others visited the hospital.

ZP CEO Srividya visited the four children who were admitted to the Madikeri District Hospital. She said the mid-day meal samples have been sent for lab tests.
