Mumbai: “Bhaijaan” of Bollywood, Salman Khan was threatened with an explosive at his residence- Galaxy Apartments by a 16-year-old boy from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
An email was sent on December 4 to the Bandra Police, warning of a blast in two hours and challenged the security personnel to stop the bomb from exploding and saving the actor and his family.
A bomb detection and disposal squad, along with Additional Commissioner of Police Dr Manoj Sharma and several other police officers, rushed to Salman’s residence and conducted a thorough search.
The police evacuated Salim Khan and Salma Khan (Salman’s parents) and his sister Arpita and carried out a search for nearly two hours.
As they checked extensively, nothing was found. Later, the police realised that it was all a hoax.
One of the senior police inspectors said that, although the mail was tracked, the accused was not at home when the police reached his residence in UP. The police then explained the case to his brother and convinced the boy to get back home. A notice was also served to the accused to appear before the Bandra Police.
After the boy appeared before the police, he was produced before the juvenile court.
The police filed a charge sheet for non-cognizable offence.
The court later allowed the boy to go home.
