Mangalore, Apr 4: Mangalorean Dr Nikita Pai, serving as an assistant professor in McGill University, Toronto, Canada has invented a handy kit to detect AIDS just like BP and diabetes.
‘The majority of people affected with HIV+ are avoiding going to state-run healthcare centers to undergo the tests owing to poor self esteem. I have done research to develop a user-friendly kit to identify the condition in the privacy of their homes,’ says Dr Nikita Pai.
The user-friendly kit has been tested in 21 countries such as South Africa, North America and Europe. The studies done at Canada, India, Spain, Singapore, Kenya and Netherlands are taken into consideration.
The user-friendly kit that has been developed by Dr Nikita can identify HIV+ status by mere sample of saliva. The blood samples can also be used. One can get the result in 20 minutes.
Dr Nikita Pai hails from Gurpur in Mangalore:
Dr Nikita’s husband Dr Madhukar Pai is serving as an assistant professor in International TB Centre of McGill University, Toronto, Canada. Both Dr Nikita and Dr Madhukar are Mangaloreans.
