‘Daivik Amrith’ Konkani monthly celebrates its 10th anniversary with launch of website

Mangaluru: ‘Daivik Amrith’ a Konkani monthly celebrated its tenth anniversary ‘Daivik Amrith Saanz- 2015’ here on June 8 at the St. Vincent Ferrar Golden Jubilee memorial hall, Valencia with the launch of the ‘Daivik Amrith’ Website by Valerian D’Almeida, Chartered Accountant.
Rev. Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, chartered accountant Valerian D almeida, Fr Andrew D’Souza, parish priest, St Lawrence Church, Bondel, and the director of monthly, Fr Bonifas Pinto, Fr Vinod Lobo, Fr James Dsouza parish priest of Valencia, Santhosh Alwyn Lobo, editor, Daivik Amrith were present on the dais.

Fr Andrew D’Souza welcomed the the well attended gathering, after which, Fr Andrew D’Souza, in his keynote address, explained the motto of the organization and its journey. He said, “Valerian, along with his friends from Abu Dhabi is one who helped us when we were under loss, so we thought he is the right person and we invited him for the special occasion.” “Valerian stood with us from 2006 helping us financially and the new website too is initiated by him, he added. Fr Andrew also thanked Fr James Dsouza for providing the hall for the celebration.

Valerian D’Almeida after inaugurating the programme, said, “to make a magazine successful it is important to have readers support along with convener, editor and writers”. He also quoted from the Bible and said the divine word inspires him to do good, whatever be the faith. “Humanity is the only religion. Whatever Jesus told us, we must do it within our families and to our friends and neighbors. We should help the needy and the one who is in trouble, like Jesus”, he added. He also urged people in the gathering to promote and help the monthly financially, as it is the only Konkani magazine, spreading word of God. He then launched the Daivik Amrith Website and handed over 100 subscriptions to the director. He also requested the director to give it free to those who cannot afford to subscribe.

Dashamanotsav Varshik Yojan was also inaugurated on the occasion and Fr Vinod Lobo read out different plans of the organisation undertaken for the current year. Daivik Amrith Education Fund was inaugurated by the guests and donors, while the sponsors were honoured.

Rev Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, in his presidential address, congratulated Fr Andrew D’Souza and his team for the new vision and venture. He said, “to run a Konkani divine magazine it is not easy. In my 48 years of service as a priest in Mangalore I have seen, many magazines came up and were forced to close down due to financial and other reasons. But this particular magazine by Fr Andrew and team is exceptional, even though the journey was not easy”. He conveyed his best wishes for the future. He was honoured on the occasion.

Eminent singers like Sangeetha Balachandra, Rony Crasta, Felix Permannur guided by Simon Pais Bajal performed on the occasion. YCS members and parishioners of Bondel performed.  Fr Jason Monis, assistant parish priest, Bondel Church, prepared children and youth from Bondel parish and presented the cultural programme.

Santhosh Alwyn Lobo delivered the vote of thanks. Jeevan Lobo compered the programme.
