
Mangaluru: St. Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated its sixth annual day on Thursday, December 21. The programme began with a grand Hawaiian welcome by the tiny tots followed, by a Jewish invocation. Fr. Melwin Mendonca SJ, Manager of the school, welcomed the gathering.
The highlights of the special events of the year were briefed by the Principal, Grace Noronha, aided by a power point presentation. Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vas SJ, rector St. Aloysius College Institutions presided over the function. Dr. Ravishankar Rao, Professor of English and Director of the International Student Centre, Mangalore University, was the chief guest of the occasion.
The chief guest addressed the gathering with a thought provoking message for the management, teachers, students and parents. Fr. Dionysius Vaz SJ, delivered his presidential address expressing his love for children and showed concern about their overall development. The programme was compered by Akif, Pranav and Malavika.
With the theme ‘Peace and Harmony’, the people of Mangaluru decided to go on a ‘Peace March’ in order to bring peace to the wounded parts of the world especially Nigeria, Turkey, Syria and Afghanistan. They succeeded in this endeavor by spreading awareness through a pledge, a song of peace and highlighting the culture of these places through different dance forms. The programme concluded with the school anthem.
