Puttur: The Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research, St Philomena College, Puttur commemorated National Youth Day with a ceremony held in the PG seminar hall on 12 Jan 2024. The event commenced with the offering of flowers to the portrait of Swami Vivekananda, led by Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro and the dignitaries present.
The speaker, Prashanth Rai, Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration, shared his profound insights on the life and legacy of Swami Vivekananda. Emphasizing Swami Vivekananda’s global significance, he highlighted the monumental contributions made by the revered figure through his knowledge, philosophical perspectives, and life experiences.
Prashanth Rai portrayed Swami Vivekananda as a source of inspiration for all, especially the youth, urging them to draw motivation from his life. He eloquently quoted Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts, encouraging the younger generation to find inspiration by aligning themselves with his principles.
Presiding, Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro conveyed that the entire should emulate the life of Swami Vivekananda. He urged the youth to confront the challenges of life fearlessly, quoting Swami Vivekananda’s famous words, “Arise and awake.” The principal motivated students to evaluate their potential, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and the cultivation of personal strengths.
Dr Monteiro stressed Swami Vivekananda’s non-religious stance and advocated for building an identity accepted by all, echoing the notion that one’s contributions should benefit everyone. He urged the youth to be good citizens, drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s inclusive and forward-thinking approach.
Harshith, the Coordinator of the PG Department of Commerce, extended a warm welcome.
Sheethal, Student Welfare Officer, delivered the vote of thanks.
